Business Book of the Year - the longlist

The FT/McKinsey Business Book of the Year longlist has been announced: https://ig.ft.com/sites/business-book-award/books/2017

It's heavy on finance and economics, with a side dose of technology.

Only 4 of the 17 books on the list are by women, but that's a fair or even a better-than-fair reflection of the numbers of business books written by women in the first place (for more on this, see my Guardian piece: https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2016/feb/18/imposter-syndrome-and-time-issues-why-women-dont-write-non-fiction). Ellen Pao’s Reset, looking at diversity (or rather, the lack of it) in Silicon Valley and start-up culture, looks particularly interesting.

If you're eligible, there's still time to submit a proposal for the FT/McKinsey Bracken Bower prize for would-be writers of business books under the age of 35 (too late for me, sadly): https://www.ft.com/brackenbower
